Finally, Vivo has launched its much-anticipated smartphone— Vivo NEX, at an event in China. The Vivo NEX is the production version of the Vivo Apex concept smartphone that was showcased by the company during the 2018 Mobile World Congress.

The smartphone sports a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Ultra FullView “Zero Screen” Display panel with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent and 2316 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. The smartphone comes with a Screen Sound Casting Technology. In layman terms, the speakers are integrated with the screen. Further, all the sensors in the Vivo NEX are hidden under the display.

Because of the narrow bezels, company had to come up with a unique solution for the selfie shooter, and thus, one of the feature of the smartphone is that it comes with a pop-up front-facing camera. The 8MP front-facing camera, when started, makes a sound to notify the user that the camera has started working.

The device also features 3ed-gen in-display fingerprint scanning technology. According to Vivo, the 3rd-gen in-display technology increases the screen unlock time by 10 percent. At the Rear, there’s a dual camera setup which consists of a 12 MP sensor. The primary camera has a Sony IMX363 sensor with 1.4μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and four-axis Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and a 5MP secondary sensor.

The Vivo NEX also has Vivo Game Engine, which is made jointly with Tencent Games. The Gaming Engine aims to provide an immersive gaming experience based on software and hardware optimization. The Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, which is partnered with dtsX. The handset is also equipped with Vivo Hi-Fi V1 System In Package technology for hi-fi quality sound through earphones.
