After so many teasers and leaks, Tata showcased its new premium hatchback in near-production concept form at the Auto Expo 2018.. While all the specifications haven’t been revealed yet, here are some specs and features of the upcoming hatchback, codenamed 45X, we know so far.
It has got a new platform
The car is based on the Tata’s new Advanced Modular Platform (AMP) and is expected to debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Tata has used an evolution of its Impact design language known as 2.0, which means the hatch sports a strong and confident posture, with slim headlights. It also has a well-defined ‘humanity line’ that links the headlamps and front grille. Tata had revealed that cars featuring Impact Design 2.0 language will have segment-leading wheel sizes, and the hatch showcased at the Auto-Expo seemed to sport 18-inch circles.
Interiors are still mystery
The concept showcased at the Expo was behind a glass case so interiors are still a mystery. But we expect the hatch to feature a clutter-free design, and will focus on practicality and connectivity.
Expect to find the Revotron and Revotorq engines
Again engines are also mystery. No details have been revealed about the engines yet. We expect more powerful versions of the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel engines. Nexon’s 110hp motor version may be a good fit, but nothing can be said because it’s too early. Nexon’s six-speed manual is expected but leak renders that under-development twin-clutch automatic may also feature.
At some angles it will remind you of the i20.
From some angles thies premium hatch will remind of it’s rival Hyundai i20. The production version of the car will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Honda Jazz.
The car will be revealed soon.
