Tata has launched a new special-edition Zest, named the Premio Edition at Rs. 7.53 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The edition is the proof that 85,000 units of Zest has been sold up till now and slots under the top-spec XT trim in the compact sedan’s range. It has got a few changes to the exterior and some on the interior as well.
The car is available only in 75hp, diesel engine and features black-finished outside mirrors, boot lid, hood strip and of-course a roof. A black spoiler is optional in the vehicle too. Tata will give two new exterior paint shades on offer- Titanium Grey and Platinum Silver. It has 15-inch wheels which come with silver-finished covers.
From the inside, the cabin gets a new seat fabric with contrast stitching and Premio branding. You’ll notice a tan-finish on the centre of the dash too.
Mechanically, it has the same engine which powers the Zest XMS, a 1.3-litre Fiat-Sourced diesel engine which is mated only to a five-speed manual gearbox. The motor produces the same 75hp and 190Nm of peak torque.
The kit on offer is at par with the XM variant and offers touchscreen infotainment system from Harman, with navigation.
It is introduced to help the Zest to compete against the likes of Volkswagen Ameo, Honda Amaze and Maruti Dzire. Zest is an ageing model when compared to its more affordable cousin Tigor, but is likely to be replaced anytime soon.
