Redmi 6 and 6A launched in China.

Last week, Xiaomi announced on social media that the Redmi 6 series of smartphones would be launched in China on June 12th. And as expected, Xiaomi has launched the two smartphones – the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A in China. Both handsets flaunt the 18:9 display and are powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

Speaking of the Redmi 6 first, the smartphone comes with a 5.45-inch full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Surprisingly, the Redmi 6 gets Helio P22 chipset and not the Qualcomm’s. The brand is offering the Redmi 6 in two storage configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, and 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. The storage can be further expanded by using a microSD card. As for security, the Redmi 6 offers a circular rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and the pretty much hyped face unlock.

In terms of Optics, the Redmi 6 offers a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera setup on the rear and a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. On the software front, the handset comes with Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI out of the box.

REDMI 6 PRICE

The 3GB variant of Redmi 6 will cost RMB 799 (~Rs 8,500) and the 4GB model will cost RMB 999 (~Rs 10,500).

REDMI 6A

The Redmi 6A is inferior to the Redmi 6 but features the same 18:9 display of 5.45 inches along with HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The handset will be available in colors namely, Platinum Silver Gray, Rose Gold, Bali Blue and Quicksand Gold. Being a cheaper one, the handset lacks a fingerprint scanner.

The Redmi 6A features a 12nm Helio A22 SoC that includes an octa-core processor of 2 GHz. The SoC is coupled with 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

The Redmi 6A has a rear camera of 13MP and a front-facing shooter of 5MP. The handset has a 3,000mAh battery that promises a standby time of 19 days.

Both, the Redmi 6 and 6A are preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo, but the exact version of MIUI is still unconfirmed. The MIUI available on the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A consumes 30% less space on the device and brings features like AI face unlock, AI voice assistant, intelligent translation and more.

REDMI 6A PRICE 

The Redmi 6A carries a price tag of 599 Yuan (~Rs. 6,300).
