Asus has launched its latest mid-range smartphone – Zenfone Max Pro M1 – in India. Highlighting features of the device include an 18:9 full-HD+ display, a massive 5000mAh battery, the latest Snapdragon 636 SoC which powers the Redmi note 5 pro, and facial recognition. The device goes on sale in India exclusively via e-commerce giant Flipkart starting from May 3.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 has been priced at Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage variant, while the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 12,999. The phone has two color options Midnight Black and Grey colour options. Asus has partnered with Flipkart to offer Complete Mobile Protection which covers broken screens, liquid damage, hardware and software faults, etc. at just Rs. 49 for a year.

Zenfone Max Pro M1 consumers on Vodafone network will get 10GB complimentary data for 1 year on recharges of Rs. 199. However, the offer is available to only prepaid users. For postpaid users who recharge of Rs. 399, Vodafone will give 10GB additional data per month for a year, while those who take Rs. 499 Red plan will get free Red Protect access free.

The dual-SIM Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 runs purely on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box, and will also get Android P and Android Q updates. The handset sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) IPS Full View display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, coupled with an Adreno 509 GPU.

The Zenfone Max Pro M1 bears a dual camera setup at the rear with a 13-megapixel primary Omnivision sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and a 5-megapixel secondary depth sensor. On the front it has an 8-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, an 85.5-degree wide-angle lens, and a 5P lens. Both the cameras are accompanied by LED flash. The handset has maximum 64GB EMCP internal storage and can be expanded via microSD card up to 2TB.

Connectivity options on the handset include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2 (with aptX), GPS/ A-GPS, BDS, GLONASS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It measures 159x76x8.61mm and weighs 180 grams.

Asus also announced a higher, 6GB RAM variant of the Zenfone Max Pro M1, which will come with same 64GB of internal storage. However, the camera sensors will be different and will come with 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel rear camera setup on the back, and 16-megapixel selfie shooter. This variant will be released “soon” and cost buyers Rs. 14,999.
