After tons of leaks over the past few weeks, Xiaomi has today finally taken the wraps off from the Mi 6X (Mi A2 in India) at the launch event in Beijing. The Mi 6X has been launched with an introductory price of 1,599 yuan (16,896.63 Indian Rupee) and will go on sale from April 27.
The Mi 6X features the latest 5.99-inch Full HD+ display panel, with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which is similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro.
From rear too, the Mi 6X looks quite similar to the Note 5 Pro. It has the same fingerprint scanner placement with similar vertical dual-rear camera placement. However it’s slightly thinner than the Redmi Note 5 Pro at 7.3mm.
The Mi 6X as expected, is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB/ 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/ 128GB internal storage. The device also has Face Unlock feature. The handset runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 skin on top.
In terms of camera, the handset packed a powerful 12MP+20MP dual camera combo. The 20MP camera has the Sony IMX376 sensor while the 12MP camera equips Sony IMX486 sensor with f/1.75 aperture. Now these configurations are enough to tell that Xiaomi wants to improve the low light performance of the camera. The camera combo is complemented with phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), portrait mode, and 4K video recording (absent on the Redmi Note 5 Pro)
On the front, you’ll get 20MP selfie camera, with the same Sony IMX376 sensor along with a flash. The company also talked about the AI capabilities of the front camera.
The Mi 6X packs a 3,010mAh battery and supports 18W Quick Charge 3.0 charging via USB Type-C port. We feel that the battery is slightly smaller, compared to other specifications of the device. Xiaomi claims that you can charge the device from 0 to 50% in just under 30 minutes.
Price and Availability
Xiaomi Mi 6X/Mi A2 in India, is priced at 1,599 yuan (approx. ₹16,999) for the 4GB+64GB variant, whereas you’ll get two internal storage configurations for the 6GB variant. The one with 6GB+64GB is priced at 1,799 yuan (₹18,999) while the 6GB +128GB variant is priced at 1,999 yuan (₹20,999 ).
The Mi 6X will be available from 27th of April in China and has 5 color variants, namely red, gold, rose gold, blue and black.
