Apart from launching the “Mi Box” (Set-top Box) in the U.S market, Xiaomi hasn’t made any new announcements regarding its Mi Box lineup in the year 2017. The Mi Box launched in the U.S is a 4K Android TV set-top box priced at $69 only. While India has been the major market for Xiaomi outside China, the Mi Box is yet to be made official in India. The current generation Mi Box 3c and Mi Box 3s are first launched back in November 2016 in China.
Today, Xiaomi has confirmed to unveil the latest Mi Box 4 on January 29th in China. While the Chinese version will come with its in-house UI, we hope to see the international variant of the Mi Box 4 running on the latest version of Android TV. With the Mi Box 4, Xiaomi will also bring several Artificial Intelligence (AI) based features that are already introduced with its Mi Smart TVs.
Similar to earlier launched Mi Box STB’s, the new Mi Box 4 will be exclusive to the China, at least in the initial stage. Xiaomi will probably launch the Mi Smart TVs later this year in the Indian market. Along with the smart TVs, Xiaomi will also bring this new Mi Box 4 STB. Currently, there’s not much information available regarding the upcoming Mi Box 4, but it teased to include intelligent features.
The current generation Mi Box 3c and Mi Box 3s are powered by 64-bit Amlogic quad-core processors. Moreover, the Mi Box 3s includes 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage and the Mi Box 3c offers 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Both these Set-Top Boxes support 4K output, Dolby audio, and more. They also feature the new AI-based PatchWall user interface. The Mi Box 3s also support HDR playback and MiTouch remote controller.
