World’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp Limited, on Tuesday unveiled its new premium motorcycle – the Xtreme 200R. The new Xtreme 200R is targeted towards the young customers. The motorbike will be available on sale in the Indian market from from April 2018 in two trims – ABS and non-ABS.
The Hero Xtreme 200R takes a lot from its concept which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as well as from the existing Xtreme Sports. Based on a new platform, the bike getss street-fighterlike styling. The bike competes from the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
Xtreme 200R gets an aggressive and bold appearance, especially from the front which features LED pilot lamps as well. The fuel tank looks muscular and the big tank shrouds further provide it with strong shoulders. While almost all the modern day bikes in above 150cc segment are now coming with a fully-digital instrument cluster, the Xtreme 200R continues with a digital-analog console.
The Hero Xtreme 200 is powered by a new 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that gets an oil-cooler for better long heat extravagance. The fuel-injected motor comes mated to a five-speed gearbox, and delivers 18.4PS of power at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 17.1Nm at 6,500rpm. The bike has been claimed to reach 60 kmph from the stand still in just 4.6 seconds and can attain a top speed of 114 kmph.
The bike gets a 37mm telescopic forks at the front while a 7-step adjustable monoshock suspension at the rear. The 17-inch sporty alloy wheels comes with wide tubeless tyres, 130/70 section radial at the rear. Each of the wheels gets a disc brake — 276mm front and
220mm rear — while the anti-lock braking system (ABS) has been kept as optional.
The Xtreme 200 will be available in three dual-tone colour and two single-tone colour options – black with silver, black with red, grey with orange, red and blue.
