H5X was revealed by Tata motors at the 2018 Auto-Expo. The production of this SUV has already been started and Tata Motors has given the market name, Harrier, to the H5X.
The model is already known internally as ‘Harrier’ and is expected to make an official announcement sometime next week.
The name Harrier chosen by Tata for its new SUV isn’t unique at all as Toyota already has a mid-size SUV called Harrier in its global portfolio. However, the name doesn’t confuse Indian buyers since the Toyota Harrier, which is available in markets including Japan and Malaysia, is not sold in our market.
When H5X made its debut at the 2018 Auto-Expo, the SUV concept grabbed eyeballs with its unique design. The leaked images of the production version were also confirmed that the SUV is similar to what we’ve seen at the Expo and the design will retain the high-set LED headlights. Other stylistic element include Tata’s trademark ‘humanity line’ that connects the headlights and grille.
The SUV will be the first Tata car to carry the new Impact Design 2.0 design language. Set to be built at Tata’s plant in Pune, the SUV is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel motor in two states of tune and the model will be offered in five and seven-seat configurations.
