I always love to review gadgets, but this does put a smile on my face. When Acer announced its Avengers: Infinity War edition laptops, i, being a fan, was super excited to test Earth’s mightiest laptops. And, so i.

Dread it, Run from it, Destiny still arrives! I guess we know these lines. Right? Well, let’s check out how much mad this titan (laptop) is? Shall we?

Before we get started here’s a quick introduction from the specs of the laptop.

UNBOXING

The laptop comes in a classy black colour box, which looks super cool. On the black colour box you’ll see the circular infinity gauntlet in gold. But the coolness doesn’t stop here. Just open the box and you’ll see the true madness of Acer with the packaging. The 3D marvel logo in Red and white just looks awesome. I mean look at it in the image, but that’s not we’re interested in. On the lower part, the box has the laptop itself in the black coloured case. Open the case and you’ll find the laptop itself.

DESIGN

I don’t know what to say about it. I mean just look at it, it’s just love. From the outside the Thanos Edition Laptop features portrait of Thanos in his bald look. The lid has golden marks all around the right and according to Acer it’s the gold hue of his infinity gauntlet splashed along the cover. Well, that makes no sense. Does it?

Anyways, when you open the lid, you’ll find the Thanos’s so-called children, The Black Order, on the hand-rest area. On the left you’ll find the Corvus Glaive and Black Dwarf, and on the right we have the lovely Proxima Midnight and Marvel’s version of Lord Voldemort, the Ebony Maw. Sadly, there’s no Infinity Gauntlet or the Infinity Stones here.

The Thanos Edition laptop features the wallpaper of the Thanos with the Black order guys, but doesn’t feature his daughters Nebula and Gamora. Which makes me sad! The keyboard has a red backlit highlighting the WASD keys and the hinge is golden in colour with NITRO graving on it. So that’s all about the design.

DISPLAY & MULTIMEDIA

The Nitro 5 or the Thanos edition laptop has a 15.5-inch IPS wide-angle LCD display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The display is clear and produces vibrant and accurate colours. The viewing angles are also decent. We do like the Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War logo which shows up when it starts booting up. The default wallpaper features Thanos with his allies which is a nice touch but as i mentioned above, i really miss the Gamora and Nebula.

Anyway, the speakers are impressive thanks to Dolby Audio Premium sound technology. The laptop has a built-in Dolby application in which users can adjust the sound quality according to their liking. The sound is loud but when it is put at maximum, it starts to distort and just does not sound good.

KEYBOARD & MOUSE

The device uses a standard type of chiclet keyboard that has red backlit along with red-coloured keys and a numpad. It would have been more cooler if some of the keys were colored after the Infinity Stones. Like usual gaming keyboards, the “W”, “A”,”S”,”D” keys are emphasized with color. The keys are comfortable upon using, but we found the Enter and backspace, along with the Up and Shift key to be problematic, as they don’t have any space between them.

The trackpad below serves as a clickpad altogether. The trackpad is good but it’ll be really appreciated if Acer, puts a similarly themed gaming mouse for the notebook.

CONNECTIVITY

The Thanos edition Nitro 5 has plenty of connectivity options to connect the Infinity stones. Just Joking!

On a serious note, you can find the charging port, LED notification lights, two USB 2.0 ports, and 3.5 audio port on the right. While the Kensington lock, RJ-45, USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI, USB 3.0 port, and SD card reader can be found on the left side of the laptop. We are disappointed with the laptop having only one USB 3.0 port. There are two Dolby Audio Premium speakers located on both sides of the laptop.

The device has a WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth connectivity, a standard for every laptop nowadays. When tested, they both worked normally without any problems.

PERFORMANCE

We all know how much powerful the Mad Titan is, and the same applies to this Titan! This laptop is powered by 7th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, along with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, a 1TB HDD, 128GB SSD and an NVIDIA GTX 1050 GPU.

Users can play AAA games on this laptop but it needs to lower the graphics settings. While the GTX 1050 GPU is capable of running most games, but still, you’ll have to sacrifice detail for the sake of frame rate, unless you like low framerates when you play.

In normal use, the Nitro 5 works pretty well. We didn’t hit any bottlenecks even with RAM-hungry Chrome, and the Nitro 5 kept up with all our open windows and multitasking.

One thing that we like about the Thanos Edition Nitro 5 is that even at the maximum attained temperature, the keyboard and touchpad don’t warm up to a level where users will get uncomfortable.

But at the same time, the exhaust fans are loud and easily heard in closed rooms, which can be a distracting element.

BATTERY LIFE

The Battery life of the Nitro 5 is just average. As it is a gaming laptop so we can’t expect much. It can easily last for 4-5 hours but after that it’ll mix in earth with just a single snap.

VERDICT

The Acer Nitro 5 Thanos Edition is simply a must-to-be-purchased gaming laptop if i let my heart to decide on. I mean the packaging itself made water in my mouth, my eyes are teary-eyed out when i saw the actual product.

The performance is decent enough for daily tasks and playing games but is it really worth for Rs. 76,990? Well, If you are a Marvel fan and can spend extra money to have this limited edition design, then go ahead. However, we feel that prices are little bit higher.
