Today, Xiaomi has unveiled the much-awaited Mi A2 smartphone with Android One in India. Much like its predecessor, Mi A2 also flaunts a sleek metallic built, though it comes with some upgraded hardware and specs. The Mi A2 runs on Android One which means you will get a near stock Android experience with a few Xiaomi apps. The device will available in three colors i.e., Lake Blue, Black, Gold and Rose Gold.
MiA2 Specifications
The MiA2 sports a 5.99″ FHD+ IPS display (2160×1080) with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display is 2.5 D curved protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The display has a contrast ratio of 1500:1 and has 403 Pixels Per Inch. It is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The SoC is accompanied with 4GB & 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
As for the optics, the device packs an upgraded dual rear camera setup – a primary 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with 2.0μm pixels and has an aperture of f/1.75. The secondary 12MP camera has Sony IMX486 sensor with 1.25μm pixels and has same aperture size. This is complemented with Phase-Detection AutoFocus (PDAF), smart portrait, and some AI-based features. The Mi A2 cameras also supprt EIS i.e.; Electronic Image Stabilisation.
Selfie department is handled by a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor with 2.0μm pixel size along with f/2.2 aperture. Front camera has features like AI powered portrait mode, AI-powered Beautify 4.0, HDR, 4500K soft-toned selfie light, Selfie timer, Face recognition and Group selfie.
The MiA2 can record videos upto 4K at 30fps and slow motion videos in 720p at 120fps. Google lens is integrated with the camera app and there will also be free unlimited storage on Google Photos.
The device packs a 3,010 mAh non-removable battery and supports Quick Charge 4+ charging via a USB Type-C port. However, there’s no 3.5mm jack this time but Xiaomi packs Type-C to Audio adapter in box.
MiA2 runs on Android Oreo and will also get Android P later this year.
Connectivity options on the device include, 4G Dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 2.4G WiFi/5G WiFi/WiFi Direct/WiFi Display and Bluetooth 5.0. It measures 158.7mm × 75.4mm × 7.3mm and weighs 168 grams.
Price
The device is Amazon Exclusive and has 2 storage variants. The base model with 4GB of RAM & 64GB of Storage costs Rs.16,999. For 6GB RAM & 128GB storage variant you’ll have to wait for some time.
