South korean smartphone maker, Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone at the Galaxy Unpacked 2018 event held today in New York. Current year’s trend is large display and Note Series is known for that. However, the exclusive features of the Galaxy Note series also evolved with improvements of S Pen, DeX and many more. So without any further delay let’s talk about the all-new Galaxy Note 9. Shall we?
Talking about the design first. Well the design of the all-new Galaxy Note 9 looks similar to the last year’s Galaxy Note 8. But it does have some minor changes like rear-facing fingerprint sensor which is sitting beside the camera lens is now placed beneath the dual camera setup. Like its predecessors, the Note 9 continues to come with the glass back body along with 7000 series aluminum frame. The front and back of the device come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The new Note sports a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with Quad HD+ (2960 x 1440 pixels) resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
The device comes in 6GB and 8GB of RAM options and will be available in 128GB and 512GB of internal storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage up to 1TB. Well that’s insane! Under the hood, the Galaxy Note 9 comes powered by in-house Exynos 9810 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, depending on the Country. It is backed by a massive 4,000mAh non-removable battery ( largest ever seen on a Galaxy Note device) and will be available in 4 color options namely, Coral Blue, Lilac Purple, Midnight Black, and Lavender Copper.
Sadly, only the Midnight Black color option comes with a limited-edition S Pen in yellow color. The yellow color S Pen now comes with Bluetooth connectivity.
The New Note supports dual rear cameras, a 12MP telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom and a 12MP wide-angle sensor with Samsung’s famous variable aperture (f/1.5 – f/2/4). The cameras come with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Dual Pixel Autofocus. For the selfies, the device sports a single 8MP sensor which supports portrait mode too.
The cameras can record 4K videos along with super slo-mo @ 960 fps. The Galaxy Note 9 uses both iris scanner and front-facing camera to offer more accurate face unlock. The phablet runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.5 UI laid on top. It also comes equipped with improved Bixby 2.0 and a dedicated button to trigger Bixby. According to Samsung the Note 9 also comes with Industry leading water carbon cooling system for keeping the temperature in check. The Note 9 supports wireless charging and with the new dual wireless charger (worth $75), both the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy Watch can be charged simultaneously. The Note 9 has USB Type-C Port and supports Samsung’s adaptive fast charging technology.
Note 9 also uses the loudspeaker and earpiece to offer stereo sound effect which are tuned by AKG and supports Dolby’s Atmos 3D simulated surround sound technology.
In the American Market, the Galaxy Note 9 with 6GB of RAM will retail for $999.99 (~ Rs.68,780) and the higher variant with 8 Gig’s of RAM costs $1,249.99 (~85,960).
