Xiaomi Redmi 5A VS 10.or D

Both the Redmi 5A and the 10.or D are new entry levels with same prices and almost same features. Both the smartphones are produced by same nation and both are giving cut throat competition to each other. Today we are going to compare these two smartphones which try to offer the Android experience on a budget, but how they fare against each other? Here’s a quick look.

Recently Xiaomi launched its Redmi 5A with the tag of ‘Desh ka smartphone’. And about a week ago Amazon, under its private label 10.or (pronounced Tenor), launched the 10.or D.

Performance and Storage

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A and the 10.or D are both powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1.4GHz. Both the smartphones are offered in two variants, one with 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of ROM and another with 3GB of RAM with 32GB of ROM.

Both the smartphones run on Google’s Android Nougat and will soon get Oreo update. But one thing worth noting here is that the 10.or D comes with near stock Android and 5A comes with Xiaomi’s MIUI. 10.or D is pre-loaded with Amazon apps which cannot be uninstalled. While the Redmi 5A features the Mi apps like Mi compass, Weather, Security and more.

Display and Design

In terms of display, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A  get a 5-inch HD IPS LCD display. The 10.or D also get the same display but with a larger screen size of 5.2-inches with similar 1280x720p resolution.

The 10.or D offers a larger body and block corners which give an impression of a larger device whereas, the Redmi 5A feels more compact and is suitable for one-handed operation. At the Rear, 10.or D looks more subtle and amazing with its centre aligned fingerprint sensor just below the camera. On the other hand, Redmi 5A doesn’t have any fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the display of 10.or D is quite warmer as compared to Redmi 5A.

Camera

Both the smartphones come with 13MP rear Camera with a 5MP front-facing the camera with an LED Flash. We tested both the offered cameras by Xiaomi and 10.or D. In our point of view, the 10.or D captured washed out pictures that are generally out-of-focus and lose details. The Redmi 5A is certainly good than 10.or D but the pictures taken by Redmi 5A are also the lacks in detail. However, it manages to capture tight shots in well-lit conditions with fairly outlined colours.

Battery and Pricing

In terms of battery, I would suggest 10.or D as it offers you a 3500 mAh battery, while the Redmi 5A offers you a battery of only 3000 mAh.

The Redmi 5A is priced at Rs. 5,999 for the 2GB RAM variant and Rs. 6,999 for the 3GB variant. But 10.or aggressively priced its D smartphone at Rs. 4,999 and Rs. 5,999 for the 3GB variant.

So, in terms of styling, Redmi 5A is good but when comes to Display and design 10.or D wins. But if you are looking for a good battery backup then 10.or D is best. On the other hand, if you love to take selfies and fond of taking pictures then Redmi 5A is better. And if you want fingerprint sensor then 10.or D suits best to you.
