Xiaomi has just launched its first Android Go smartphone, the Redmi Go in India. The device packs a 5-inch HD screen, Snapdragon 425 SoC with 1GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 5-megapixel front camera, 4G LTE with dedicated SIM slots and a 3000mAh battery.

Redmi Go: Price and Availability

Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone till date, i.e., the Redmi Go has been priced at Rs.4,999 for the the base variant with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Redmi Go will be available in two color options, namely Blue and Black. It will go on sale from March 22, 12 noon on Mi.com, Mi Homes, and Flipkart.

Redmi Go: Specs and Features

Redmi Go features a simplistic design approach with a 5-inch HD+ display that has a 1280×720 pixels resolution. The display has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a pixel density of 269 ppi. The panel has a brightness of 380 nits which seems decent as for the price.

The Redmi Go is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, which is a great chipset given the price. The phone has dual SIM slots as well as support for microSD cards up to 128GB.

Redmi Go runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) out-of-the-box, which is good. However, it will be great to see the Android 9 Pie because it has been more than 6 months since Android 9 Pie has been out.

In terms of optics, the Redmi Go includes a single 8MP (f/2.0) rear sensor and 5MP (f/2.2) selfie lens. The 8MP single lens comes with an LED flash, HDR support, Burst mode, countdown timer, manual mode, real-time filters and scene recognition for 11 different scenes.

Redmi Go is capable of recording videos up to 1080p resolution. The front camera also has support for Auto HDR, which is also good, given the price.

To lit the screen, the device packs a 3,000mAh battery which reportedly, will offer you up to 10 days of standby time. Xiaomi bundles a 5W (5V/1A) micro USB charger with the device. The device also has all usual set of Connectivity options, including a dual-SIM tray, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, and more.
