A few days ago, we reported that, Vivo India has preponed the launch of Vivo V9 smartphone from March 27th to March 23rd. And today, Vivo India has officially unveiled the V9 smartphone at an event in Mumbai, India. The device is priced at Rs. 22,990 for the 4GB RAM variant.
The smartphone sports a metal frame with curved glass and fingerprint scanner on the rear. In terms of design, it looks similar to the iPhone X with vertically aligned dual rear cameras and front notch.
The device is available in three different color options namely, Pearl black, Champagne Gold and Sapphire Blue. Talking about the display, the Vivo V9 sports a 6.3-inch edge-to-edge IPS display with Full HD+ (2280 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio (Full view Display 2.0). The FullView display on the V9 has 90% screen-to-body ratio. The side bezels on the device are thin and measure just 1.75mm.
Under the hood, it comes powered by the 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The device offers 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB via a MicroSD card. In terms of Optics, the V9 comes with a 24-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and supports facial recognition. The camera app also includes a few new features including the customised AI Face Beauty mode and AR stickers. The AI Face Beauty mode can guess your age, sex, skin tone, texture and lighting condition when you want to take a selfie. A combination of AI algorithms and features like Natural Light, Studio Light, and Monochrome background helps you take better pictures. The front camera of the V9 can unlock your phone with the help of face camera 2.0, the front camera can do more than that, like answering your calls after recognising your face, or opening the apps.
On the rear you have 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera combo with the same f/2.0 aperture. According to maker, with the new AI Bokeh mode, the device can capture better portrait photos. The Vivo v9 also has Ultra HDR mode. It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based Funtouch OS 4.0 out of the box. The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge, while the hybrid SIM card slot is on the left edge of the device.
To lit the screen the Vivo V9 has 3,260mAh non-removable battery. Connectivity options includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi (only 2.5G), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM Radio, USB OTG, FM Radio, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Vivo V9 measures 154.81 × 75.03 × 7.89 mm and weighs 150 grams.
