Thomson a TV brand on Thursday launched its range of smart televisions in India. The Thomson launched the 43-inch 4K UHD HDR, 40-inch, and 32-inch TVs and all three units will be manufactured by Noida-based SPPL. All the three TVs will go on sale in the country exclusively via Flipkart starting from Friday, April 13th. The sale will be Flipkart’s traditional flash sale and will start at 12pm IST. The models are aggressively priced, and appear to take on TV players such as Micromax, Vu, and Xiaomi in the country.
43-inch Thomson TV
The 43-inch 4K UHD Thomson television has been priced at Rs. 27,999. It sports a LG IPS display panel with a 3840×2160 pixels resolution and HDR support. The company claims a 178-degree viewing angle. The sad part? It runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat (almost 4-Gen old) and is powered by a 1.4GHz dual-core Cortex-A53 processor coupled with a Mali-T720 GPU and 1GB RAM. It has 8GB of internal storage and features two 10W speakers. Connectivity option includes, 1x RF input, 1x AV input, 3x HDMI ports, 1x Component port, 2x USB ports, 1x RJ45 port, 1x SPDIF port, 1x 3.5mm headphone jack, one SD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
40-inch Thomson TV
The 40-inch Thomson smart TV has been priced at Rs. 19,990. It features a Samsung LED-backlit panel with a full-HD (1920×1080 pixels) resolution and a peak brightness of 450 nits. On this one company also claims a viewing angle of 178 degrees. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop (one generation high but still 3 gen old), and is powered by same Cortex-A53 processor coupled with a Mali T720MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of onboard storage. It once again features two 10W speakers. Finally, the smallest, 32-inch Thomson smart TV. The 32-inch bears a model name 32M3277 and is priced at Rs. 13,490. It also sports a Samsung LED-backlit panel with an HD (1366×768 pixels) resolution and the peak brightness is also same which stood at 450 nits. Company once again claimed a 178-degree viewing angle on this one. It also runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and is powered by a Cortex-A53 processor coupled with a Mali T720MP2 GPU and 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of inbuilt storage. It has two 10W speakers.
