Back in June this year, Samsung launched the Galaxy A9 Star smartphone in China and today, the company launched the same smartphone in India as the Galaxy A8 Star. It is priced at Rs 34,990 and will be sold exclusively via Amazon India starting August 27th. It’s pretty shocking that in the 35000 price range we are seeing flagship smartphones like OnePlus 6 and Asus Zenfone 5Z and at Rs. 34,990 the Galaxy A8 Star comes with mid-range specifications.
It comes with the metal frame featuring 2.5D curved glass on the front as well as on rear. As seen on other high-end Samsung smartphones, the Galaxy A8 Star also sports a dedicated Bixby button on the left edge, while the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge. On the front it sports a 6.28-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with Full HD+ (1080×2220 pixels) resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with Kryo 260 COU and Adreno 512 GPU. The SoC again is coupled with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There is also a MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage additionally up to 400GB. The A8 Star runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung’s TouchWiz skin on top. The device comes with the rear-facing fingerprint sensor and also offers face unlock support.
In terms of Optics, there is 16MP + 24MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/1.7 aperture and a single 24MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. The Galaxy A8 Star is backed by a 3,700mAh battery and supports adaptive fast charging.
Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, 3.5mm audio jack, and USB Type-C port.
