Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is one of the most popular device we have seen in 2017. Today, Xiaomi finally launched the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphones as the successor to Redmi Note 4 in India. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is similar to iPhone X in terms of design. It has got the same (vertical) rear camera setup which we’ve seen on the iPhone X.
On the front is the 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio.
Compared to other 18:9 smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 pro sports considerably thick bezels on all the four sides. The display comes covered by a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The device will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB of internal storage.
While the earlier launched Redmi smartphones came with triple SIM card slots, the new Redmi Note 5 Pro offers hybrid SIM slot, where the user has to choose between the secondary SIM and the MicroSD card. In terms of optics, the device offers a 12MP+5MP dual rear camera setup with f/2.2 and f/2.0 aperture and a 20MP front camera for selfies
and video calls. Surprisingly, the front camera also offers the portrait mode. The front camera sensor of the device has Sony IMX376 camera for capturing beautiful selfies.
Both the front and rear cameras come accompanied by a LED flash. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery which should easily last for a complete day of regular usage. The battery comes with 5V/2A (10W) fast charging support too.
However, there is no USB Type-C port or fast charging support. The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. It measures 158.5 x 75.45 x 8.05 mm and weighs 80 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, IR Blaster, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Talking about the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 Pro with 4GB and 6GB of RAM will be costing Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 16,999 respectively. The device will be sold via Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi Preferred Partners in Indian market.
