If you ask me about the trend of 2018 in mobile phones, then without any single thought i’ll say ‘Notch’! It is mainly the effort to cram as much screen into a device as possible. Be it OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Asus, Huawei or Nokia everyone offers a notch. Well Vivo has done a great job with the NEX by providing a pop-up selfie camera. Now it seems like Vivo’s sister company Oppo is also trying to do something like that. Oppo’s new Find X, which is being officially announced in Paris today, combines a number of trendy design ideas and some even newer tricks to fit a large 6.4-inch display into a phone that you can still hold in one hand. And it does this without utilizing a notch, which should make some people happy.

Oppo Find X is going to launch today at an event in Paris. It is still hours away but The Verge has let the cat out of the bag early. So rather than wait till the official launch let’s find out what Oppo offers us in the Find X.

OPPO Find X Design & Specs

Oppo’s Find series took a break after 2014 but now its back with a new design, flagship specs, and a few tricks. The Find X has a 6.4-inch OLED panel with 1080 pixel wide resolution, and both the front and back of the phone feature curved glass. The Find X looks very similar to a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, thanks to its curved sides and rounded corners.

The screen of the Find X stretches to the top and therefore expunge the upper bezel where the front camera, sensor, and earpiece usually reside. You people are thinking that where does all these things gone? That’s the most interesting part of the Find X. The Find X has a large automatic slide-out mechanism. When this part of the phone slides out, it not only reveals the front camera and 3D face scanning sensors but it also reveals the dual rear cameras and LED flash. Just open the camera app of the phone and boom! The entire top section of the phone motorizes up and reveals a 25MP front-facing camera, 3D facial scanning system, and 16MP + 20MP dual rear camera. Close the camera app and the whole assembly motors back into the phone’s chassis.

OPPO says the slide-out mechanism pops out in just 0.5 seconds and according to The Verge it is fairly accurate. One more thing, even if it isn’t for you, then also you will have to get used to of it. Because that’s the only thing by which you can unlock your phone. Since,  the Find X doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, so it is either Face Unlock or pin/pattern/password.

The pop-up mechanism works for unlocking the phone too, all you need to do is- turn the phone on, swipe up on the lock screen, and the top of the phone will motor up, authenticate your face, and unlock the phone. Apart from the unique design Find x offers all the things you’d expect from a high-end Android phone in mid-2018.

It runs on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS skin on the top. The Find X comes powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

It will be backed a 3,730mAh non-removable battery and supports in-house VOOC flash charge technology. The device also supports dual SIM dual standby.
