After disrupting the mobile telephone market with free voice calls and cheapest data, richest Indian Businessman Mukesh Ambani today announced plans to launch ultra high speed fixed line broadband services for homes and small enterprises.
Speaking at the RIL’s 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM), Mr. Ambani said the said service will provide Ultra HD entertainment on TV, voice activated assistance, virtual reality gaming and digital shopping as well as smart home solutions. Mr. Ambani added that your whole home will become smart and almost all possible devices can be controlled via My Jio App.
“We will now extend fiber connectivity to homes, merchants, small and medium enterprises and large enterprises simultaneously across 1,100 cities to offer the most advanced fiber-based broadband connectivity solutions,” he said.
Mr. Ambani added that “company’s telecom service, will move India to top five nations in fixed line broadband in coming years.”
The fixed line broadband will offer “ultra high-definition entertainment on large screen TVs, multi-party video conferencing from your living room, voice-activated virtual assistants, virtual reality gaming, digital shopping, immersive experiences,” he said.
Launched back in September 2016, Jio has made India the highest mobile data consuming nation.
Mr. Ambani said since its launch, Jio has over 215 million consumers and has sold over 25 million Jio phones. He also announced that Jio Phone Monsoon Hungama offer starting from July 21, will allow users to exchange their feature phones for a Jio Phone for just Rs 501.
