After dozens of teasers and renders, Lenovo has finally unveiled the Z5 Smartphone. Lenovo has been hyping the Z5 over the past few weeks, posting sketches and renders that hinted at a truly all-screen design free from bezels and notches. Well, the Z5 just got unveiled in Beijing, today and there’s a bad news for you guys.
There’s a notch! And a chin at the bottom. The Lenovo Z5 has a 6.2-inch 19:9 1080p screen with bezels. Lenovo claims the bezels present on the Z5 are thinner than the Xiaomi Mi 8 and iPhone X, and also the notch is narrower than those two phones. But we can’t neglect the fact that it still has a notch. Lenovo claims a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent on the Z5 which seems justifiable.
We were quite shocked when we see the Z5, as final product is different from the promotional renders. You can see the below image.
The Z5 has an eight-core Qualcomm 636 processor. It has a dual camera setup with 16 megapixel + 8 megapixel sensor combo. The camera app runs an AI algorithm for taking better low light shots. At front, the phone has an 8 megapixel camera, also backed by AI for enhancing photos taken in low light or against light.
The battery is 3300mAh and can be fast-charged at 18W. The Lenovo Z5 is a dual SIM (GSM and GSM) smartphone that accepts two Nano-SIMs. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include Compass/ Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.
There are some positive aspects too, the Z5 is pretty cheap at 1,299 yuan (~$200, Rs 13,636.25) for a model with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, or 1,799 yuan (~$280, Rs. 18,884.99) for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’ll go on sale in China on June 12th. Availability for India or other markets is yet to be announced.
