About 2 weeks ago, we told you about the expected devices to be launch at the MWC’18. LG was in that list and today the company has officially announced the upgraded LG V30 and V30+ smartphones are coming to the MWC 2018. As the leaks suggested, these phones will bne offering AI-based camera features. The new devices are officially called as LG V30S ThinQ and LG V30S+ ThinQ. LG first introduced the ThinQ lineup at the CES 2018, and now we are seeing this in the MWC’18. The phones will be available in New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Gray color options.
The V30S ThinQ and V30S+ ThinQ come with Vision AI that includes three new intelligent camera features called AI CAM, QLens and Bright Mode. AI CAM is designed to recognize the subject in the frame and offer best possible camera settings. As of now, the AI CAM differentiate between eight categories namely portrait, food, pet, landscape, city, flower, sunrise, and sunset. The similar feature is presented on the Honor View 10 too.
Now the QLens- the QLens can recognise specific objects in the frame to offer shopping links, price, and image search. With the help of this feature, the user can scan the QR codes directly with the camera app on his/her device. Talking about the Bright Mode, both the smartphones can capture better photos in low light mode with this feature. There will be built-in Google Assistant, however, ThinQ smartphones come with new Voice AI feature that allows us to run apps and change settings just by our voice commands.
The new LG V30S ThinQ smartphones will come with 6GB of RAM and the LG V30S comes with 128GB of internal storage, whereas the LG V30S+ ThinQ packs 256GB of internal storage. In both of the devices MicroSD card slot is available for expanding the storage up to 2TB. Other specifications will remain identical on both the LG V30 and LG V30S ThinQ devices.
The smartphones will be sporting a 6-inch OLED FullVision display with Quad HD (2880 x 1440 pixels) resolution and trending 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, will be Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset instead of the latest Snapdragon 845. We’ll looking for a 16MP standard camera with f/1.6 aperture and 71-degree wide-angle view and 13MP wide-angle camera with f/1.9 aperture and a 120-degree wide-angle view. For selfies, the devices will be featuring a 5MP front shooter with f/2.2 aperture and 90-degree wide-angle lens.
Both the devices will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo with LG UX 6.0+ on the top and will be backed by a 3,300mAh (non-removable) battery. Both the variants will be IP68 certified which means both the devices are dust and water resistant and MIL-STD 810G compliant.LG will also add the 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for better audio output experience. The devices will also support face unlock and fingerprint unlock.
Connectivity options on the smartphones include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, NFC, and USB Type-C port. Both of them will be measuring 151.7 x 75.4x 7.3 mm and weighs 158 grams. Currently, there’s no information about the pricing or the availability of the LG V30S ThinQ smartphones.
