MWC’18 is going on and companies are announcing new flagships but OnePlus won’t be doing so. OnePlus won’t launch a new smartphone till the second half of the year but that doesn’t meant that work has not begun yet. It appears that work has actually gone very far as images of the OnePlus 6 (as said to be) are out.
We are not really sure about the name yet but it’s clear that it is a OnePlus device as logo can be seen at the back.
From the above image we can see that this is a strikingly unique design from previous OnePlus devices. Metal back is gone and in its place we can see a highly reflective glass, like one seen on Honor 9 lite. Some people say this may mean the device will support wireless charging but that may not be so.
OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, said last year that it sees no need for wireless charging. Because Dash Charge technology is much faster than any wireless charger, but since the technology is not ripe enough for adoption. Though he did say the OnePlus may introduce it in future. Anyways, we’d prefer an IP68 rating over wireless charging.
Apart from the glass back, the OnePlus 6 has a dual camera setup that is slightly raised and is positioned in the middle of the device. There is a LED flash below it and an elliptical fingerprint scanner- somewhat similar to Samsung Galaxy S9 devices.
The front of the device is equally amazing. The OnePlus 6 can be seen with a notch at the top of the display and the lower bezel seems smaller than that of the OnePlus 5T. The notch is near to a small earpiece and a camera.
The leaked images show the “About Phone” section of the device. The device’s name is stated as P7819 and the model number is NS P7819. This is a prototype so the original model number should be something like this – ONEPLUS A6x10.
The phone is running on Oxygen OS 5.1.0 MEA_3 based on Android 8.1.0 Oreo with December’s security patch. There is 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which means this is the base model.
