BYD India is all set to launch the eMax 7 electric MPV on October 8, 2024. This new model is an extensively updated version of the BYD e6 MPV, featuring significant design, technology, and feature upgrades. With a focus on providing a premium electric driving experience, the eMax 7 will compete directly with the Toyota Innova Hycross, a popular choice in the MPV segment.

BYD eMax 7: Premium Seating Options and Panoramic Roof

The BYD eMax 7 will offer two seating configurations—six-seat and seven-seat layouts—catering to various customer preferences. Although the additional row will reduce cargo space compared to the current e6, the upgraded seats will feature leatherette upholstery, providing a more premium feel. The MPV will also have a fixed panoramic glass roof, adding to the vehicle’s luxurious appeal.

Inside, the eMax 7 promises a high-tech experience, with a redesigned center console that includes faux wood and aluminum inserts and soft-touch materials on the dashboard. The vehicle will also feature more premium switchgear, elevating interior ambiance.

BYD eMax 7: Electric Powertrain and Range Options

The BYD eMax 7 will come with two battery pack options. Internationally, it is available with a 55.4kWh battery with a claimed range of 420km and a larger 71.8kWh battery delivering a 530km range. For the Indian market, BYD will likely offer the 71.8kWh battery, already available on the e6. Performance-wise, the eMax 7 delivers 163hp with the smaller battery and 204hp with the larger one, with both versions generating 310Nm of torque.

BYD eMax 7 vs Toyota Innova Hycross

BYD is positioning the eMax 7 as a direct competitor to the Toyota Innova Hycross. While both MPVs share seating configurations and features similarities, the key difference lies in their powertrains. A petrol-hybrid engine powers the Toyota Innova Hycross, while the eMax 7 will be a pure electric vehicle. One of the eMax 7’s standout features is BYD’s signature 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen, offering a high-tech advantage over its competitors.

BYD eMax 7 Pricing in India

Sources suggest that the BYD eMax 7 will be priced competitively at around Rs 30 lakh to Rs 33 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a strong contender against the Toyota Innova Hycross, which is priced up to Rs 30.98 lakh for the top-spec ZX(O) hybrid variant.

With premium features, advanced technology, and an all-electric powertrain, the BYD eMax 7 is poised to attract a wide range of customers looking for a luxurious and eco-friendly alternative in the MPV segment.
